This remote triangular-shaped coral island in the Amirantes group, lies right in the heart of the Indian Ocean, 500kms south west of Mahé and 7 degrees south of the Equator. Boasting 3.6kms of coastline and a tranquil lagoon, a host of watersports are available but the island is recognized for its fishing and diving. The island of St. Francois, 1/2 hour by boat from Alphonse is one of the best places in the world for fly fishing. Fly-fishing requires advance booking. Fishing, Diving, Excursion activities subject to weather conditions in August. Half the island is lush with coconut palms and the other half is the location of Alphonse Island Resort. The 25 spacious, cosy and stylish individual A- framed bungalows and 5 deluxe villas are located along the beach on either side of the main building.
