The fourth largest island in the archipelago, La Digue is reached from Praslin by a 30 minute ferry ride or by helicopter. The island is approx. 5km by 3 km and is 6 kms from Praslin.

The island’s main form of transport is either ox-cart or a handful of motor vehicles. For the visitor it is either foot power or pedal power and bicycles can be hired on a daily basis.

The island has changed little over the years and still offers a glimpse of what life used to be like in the Seychelles. The Digueois are very friendly and the pace of life relatively slow, but who needs to rush!

The masses of granite rocks around the coastline especially at Anse Source D’Argent contrasting with the white sandy beaches with a background of green vegetation has made the island the most photographed in the Seychelles. Here you will often see models being photographed and film crew setting up. It has been the ideal location for filming such adverts as Bacardi and Bounty Bars.

The island is also well known for the Veuve Nature Reserve where you may well find the rare Paradise flycatcher.
